FICSA workshops on salary survey methodology, Mexico City, 1-5 September

FICSA organized two workshops - in English and in Spanish - to train participants in salary survey methodology for non-headquarters duty stations. Mr. Osvaldo Bastida was the trainer for the Spanish-language workshop and Mr. Samir A. Wahab trained in English. 33 staff members from 16 duty stations participated in the Spanish workshop and 8 staff members from 5 duty stations participated in the English workshop.

 

The aim of the workshops was to enhance the knowledge of salary survey techniques by providing participants with a detailed overview of the methodology in force at field duty stations, covering survey participants' roles and responsibilities as well as due process. Basic concepts related to the system of job evaluation and job classification were included. Within the methodological framework, the following phases were analyzed: preparatory work, data collection, data analysis, construction and approval of the new salary scale. Interim adjustment procedures and special measures were also addressed.
