FICSA fosters the development of the international
civil service in accordance with the principles set forth
in the
United Nations Charter and the constitutions of the specialized
agencies.
The Federation:
Ensures that equitable conditions of service
for all common system staff are maintained at a level which
will ensure the recruitment and retention of the most qualified
people
Defends staff rights
Contributes to building a positive image of the
international civil service
Each year staff associations and unions from
UN organizations around the globe gather in the annual FICSA
Council to identify the priority issues for the coming year.
Those priorities include:
Reform of the pay and benefits system
Improving work/life issues for staff working
in the field
